Drilling operation in PL 713 Pingvin

On  17th  of August 2014  drilling operation on Pingvin prospect started in the production license PL 713.

The PL 713 is located in the Barents Sea, in the northern part of the central Bjørnøya Basin, west of Johan Castberg discovery.

The 7319/12-1 well  is being drilled by the semisubmersible rig Transocean Spitsbergen in water depth of 422 m and the planned total vertical depth will be 1500 m in 27 days.

The Pingvin well is the first exploration well targeting the unproven Upper Cretaceous play. The objective of the drilling is to test the possibility of HC in Kveite Formation sandstone reservoir.

Partners in the license are Statoil (Operator 40 %), RN Nordic Oil (20 % ), Edison International (20%) and North Energy (20%).
